Playwork working with children

For playworkers, the play process takes precedence and playworkers act as advocates for play when engaging with adult-led agendas.

We also run a very successful two week Summer Club, usually during the first two weeks of the summer break, and a four or five day Easter Club, which is also extremely popular.

The role of the playworker The playworker is engaged with enabling or facilitating play opportunities. Playworkers make themselves available to respond to the needs or the invitation of the child. For after school sessions, the younger children will be collected personally from class and the older children will make their own way there.

Diversity does not simply refer to heritage and disability, but also gender, nationality and culture, sexual orientation and age. Running alongside this activity is project evaluation to support the recommendations at the end of the project.

Ofsted inspect us on a regular basis and not more than every 4 years. Child's Play Diversity and Equality Child's Play aims to reflect the diverse society in which we live and challenge stereotypes.

Breakfast Club is open from 7. It isn't all doom and gloom I am sure but over the years my experience is that things have progressively got worse.

We offer a full suite of qualifications covering Levels 1 to 5 for those working with children, young people and their families. They include both work based and classroom based qualifications that develop the knowledge and skills needed to learn about and/or work in.

Playwork is a highly skilled profession that enriches and enhances provision for children’s play. It takes place where adults support children’s play but it is not driven by prescribed education or care outcomes.
